Had time off for ARP training from September 1938; Seems to have been away during the war, although no definite dates are given in the Log Book; Present in January 1945, and intent on joining County Supply staff in January 1946; Stayed on, effectively as Deputy Head; Retired 23rd June 1948. |

The timetable was suspended on the day of his retirement to allow for a gift-giving ceremony. He died only a few months later, with Mr Pilgram and Mr Whitehead attending his funeral. |
